Student Work Celebrated at Intensive English Courses Art Expo

On Thursday, Dec. 18, Intensive English Courses held its end-of-semester art expo, a morning-long celebration of students’ artistic creations and a chance to reflect on their English progress.

The expo featured four student speakers, student-crafted “how-to” resource videos for those just arriving to Academy of Art University and awards for best video and best artwork. Extremely promising students were also honored with the Outstanding Student in English award.

Intensive English Courses alumna Ying Wang spoke about her experience as an international student in her major classes and the challenge of learning English and took questions from students.

The event culminated in a goodbye luncheon among students and instructors.

This was the seventh expo to be launched since the founding of the Intensive English Courses in Fall 2012. Students in these courses take an English for Art Purposes class in addition to either a class in their majors or a sheltered art studio, in which they learn the basic principles of drawing, watercolor painting, photography and video making.
