Back in March, the Academy of Art University volleyball team spent another beautiful day in San Francisco beautifying the city. All 12 members of the ART U squad pitched in and picked up trash along Ocean Beach and in Golden Gate Park.
“I felt we had a positive impact on our community by helping clean it up,” said head coach Ed Jackson. “It was also great for our team cohesion and created an opportunity for our athletes to walk and talk and continue [to] learn more about each other and grow together.”
The Urban Knights diligently made their way through these destination locations, doing their part to give back to the San Francisco community by removing garbage as well as having positive exchanges with all whom they encountered.
“The team loved community service at the beach and in the park,” said setter Rachael Smith (Advertising). “It allowed us to help the environment while interacting with the public, and we all loved the chance to get some sun.
Along the way, the team received appreciative comments from numerous surfers, park-goers and sun bathers who expressed their gratitude for their efforts to make the beach and park cleaner for everyone to enjoy.
“It was awesome to be able to get out, explore and have fun while doing community service,” said outside hitter Melissa Brum (Multimedia Communications).
