Academy of Art University’s student-run advertising agency, Young + Hungry a Creative Co-op, took part in a contest where the participants were to “incorporate Ubisoft characters and elements of its corporate DNA to highlight the company’s presence in San Francisco.” The prize: the winning artwork would be displayed in the front window of Ubisoft’s San Francisco offices, located at 625 Third Street.
“Academy of Art University is always looking for new ways to push the limits of creativity,” said Vince Engel, co-director of the School of Advertising. “Collaborating with Ubisoft really challenged our students to think outside the box and gave them a true real-world experience.”
On Wednesday, April 1, Ubisoft and the Academy selected the winner, Charbel Zgheib. His winning design is now on display at Ubisoft.
“Participating in this contest gave us a taste of what it’s like to work for Ubisoft San Francisco,” said Zgheib. “While I’m very excited to have won the opportunity to see our ideas come to life, the hands-on experience was a huge reward in itself.”
This contest was the second collaboration between Ubisoft and the Academy.
“We’re really impressed with all of the unique ideas that the Academy of Art students presented in the contest,” Michael Hammond, creative director at Ubisoft, said in a press release. “They brought so much passion and professionalism to the table. Their work truly illustrates Ubisoft as a creative force in San Francisco.”
